This is an opportunity for you to be part of building something from the ground up. As a Manager at Cambridge Future Tech, you’ll play a pivotal role in scaling our consulting practice, defining how we work, delivering high-impact projects, shaping our future, and sharing in the success. You’ll lead projects end-to-end, structuring work, coordinating internal teams, and owning the quality of what we deliver to clients. You’ll help us to secure new business and new clients, accelerating our progress.
This is a hands-on leadership role. While you’ll run engagements and coordinate other team members, you’ll also personally contribute to delivery, especially in the early stages as we scale.

Lead & deliver impactful projects
Own & lead consulting projects from kickoff to final delivery
Translate complex and/or ambiguous briefs into structured workplans and clear deliverables; shape and deliver compelling narratives that link deep science to strategic impact
Build trusted relationships with clients and manage project communications and expectations across all levels, including with senior leadership
Lead teams & collaboration
Coordinate interdisciplinary teams, which as we grow, will include individuals across technical, operational, commercial, and strategic roles
Drive project progress and pace; hold responsibility for deadlines and quality
Mentor and support team members, building an inclusive and empowering consulting team culture
Hands-On Consulting & Delivery
Conduct commercial and strategic analysis to refine project direction and to develop client recommendations
Perform outreach and join external interviews with startups, researchers, industry leaders, and other domain experts
Shape and write deliverables including presentations, models and reports; share or own the delivery of project outputs to clients
Build our Practice
Define and refine internal tools, frameworks, and ways of working
Track and report project costs; help to drive engagements that exceed client expectations and deliver profitable growth
Contribute to growing our capabilities, reputation, and evolution of our service offerings
Help to secure business from existing and new clients

As part of this, we offer the potential to work a mix of home and office in Cambridge (expected minimum 3 days per week). This role will require occasional travel, including to locations in the UK and overseas, in support of project delivery and related activities.

Bring experience in strategy consulting, corporate innovation, or equivalent
Have led complex consulting projects and small teams in fast paced environments
Are an experienced communicator, able to effectively synthesise complex ideas for senior stakeholders
Are comfortable with a hands-on-role; enjoy analysing commercial, strategic, and market dynamics; enjoy rapidly building relationships with and interviewing external stakeholders
Thrive in ambiguity and enjoy proactively shaping your work
Bring bonus experience in science/tech – this is a plus but not required, we value transferable skills
